The Coolest New Kid on the Block: The Icery!

If you have not been to The Icery yet, stop reading and get yourself there right away. We mean it! The most recent addition to Lansdowne’s downtown is a very special treat. This artisan ice cream and water ice shop stays true to the ‘artisan’ label: they make a high quality product in small quantities using traditional methods.

In addition to being a delicious place to visit, the Icery is also an ascetic dream – with a stylish modern interior design and layout. It is also one of the friendliest spots in town! For example each month a gelato flavor is named after a valued customer. This month Lansdowne locals Catherine & Carol have claimed the flavor of CC’s P-Nutty Apple, a delicious combination of salty peanut butter + granny apples topped with a drizzle of chocolate fudge + peanuts. The store is also active in the ‘Save The Lansdowne Theater’ campaign where staff decided to donate all their tips to help support the Theater. The Icery has already raised over $500!

Danny Losacco is the mastermind behind the Icery. Growing up in South Philadelphia he has a sweet tooth for the Italian-made water ice. Originally trained as an architect, Danny now sets his creative vision on creating frozen treats on Lansdowne Avenue! We recently caught up with Danny to see how he was enjoying running a small business in Lansdowne. This is what he had to say:

“We are so delighted to be in this great town of Lansdowne! There is a bond here that glues this close knit community- where everyone knows each other by first name. This town is a diverse melting pot of fabulous people and small businesses that warms the heart– we are happy to be part of this community as a meeting point where we all come together to connect amongst family, friends and neighbors for good conversation (and delicious frozen delights). We love our customers and hope to celebrate with them at ‘The Coolest Place in Lansdowne’ for many years to come!”

For more information, the Icery has a fun website. You can also follow them on Facebook and rave about them on Yelp.
