The Fathers of our Country

Most of the time, the main topics of my ramblings are all about food and fun…but once in a while I have to give props to the other ingredient of the Market experience…the SHOPPERS!

As I sit and type this, it is the 53rd Fathers Day I’ve celebrated with one of the best in the game, and so it wouldn’t be right not to acknowledge all the dads that I see each and every Saturday…carrying kids, carrying bags and baskets, even carrying on conversations with other dads.  You are seen.  You are often smiled at for your patience, and your participation. You are half of what makes this town so special.  A big salute from all of us at the Lansdowne Farmers Market.

So… I hope you went home with something delicious for a proper celebration of the day and of the season.  Maybe some of Doleah’s well-stuffed empanadas, or a box of OMG! burnt ends from Meetz by Meez BBQ to enjoy with a Conshohocken beer.  Or was this morning a wake-up to one of Hank’s Cinnamon Buns?

Whichever it was, we were glad to see you there.  And hopefully you got to sit for a moment to relax and enjoy one of our favorite Music Tent talents…David Falcone in the house!…on guitar and vocals.  Can’t ever get enough.

So, to all you dads…and moms too…in fact, to all the grads and the parents that got them to the finish line…consider yourselves congratulated and recognized.

Over at the Tucquan Tent, I had to come to terms with the end of their strawberry harvest, but the black raspberries and blueberries helped me regain some equilibrium.  Asparagus are still on the table for another week, and…wait for it…peaches in about 2 weeks!  And if you need to know more of what’s next, of course you do, here’s that seasonal calendar again.

Speaking of Tucquan, rumor has it that this will be the last gig at the LFM for their trusty, krusty wheel man, Karl with a K.  An expansion of the goods that Farmer Dan will be bringing to market requires a step up in transport power.  Dan even had another kid to add to the crew!

Talk about happy fathers!

Please stop by and wish korny Karl a happy road ahead.  It was the berries getting to know him.  He will be missed.

BTW: You’ve been asking.  If you’ve clicked on the LFM Schedule link (you did, right?), you’ll already know that A Seasons Chef is on it for this week.  We have to share her with Oakmont, but that just makes her more special here.

In the Artist’s Tent: Margaret Moran and The Basket Tree.  What will you put in yours?  Yarn? Mail? All the stuff sitting on your stairs?  TIP: The right basket instantly turns any clutter into decor.  You’re welcome.

In the Music Tent:  Noodle Theory – Guitar, keyboard and vocals.  You loved them last year when they were just Bill Baraldi & Simone Dorsey. …and they loved you right back.  NOTE: Any resemblance to Sonny & Cher is purely coincidental.

Now that you’re up to snuff here, go back and read the rest of the LEDC newsletter, and what’s coming down the pike and on the Ave.  And if you’re new to town, or if you have a new neighbor…go one step further and go to the actual LEDC site and see how to get involved and be a part of the thing that is …

…’Downe, not ‘dale
