This week marks the first of five Community Days at LFM 2019. Always a crowd pleaser. Come see what your friends and neighbors get up to in their spare time…hobbies cum cottage industries, civic and social organizations, and local small businesses. Diversity in the marketplace. A full listing of entrepreneurs can be found back in the full e-newsletter. Speaking of …
A DADITUDE Adjustment
It happens every third week in June…schools out, most of the graduation dust has settled, and vacation trips are still in the pipeline. So…oh yeah, Happy Fathers Day! Now, you may think what the man of the hour needs is a new tie, a new golf shirt, a ticket to a ballgame or concert. Things. But this year, how about …
A Is For Asparagus
Question: What season is it when the world is all colored in red and green? Sit down if you said Christmas. The correct answer, my foodie friends, is early June, when the farmers’ tables are gift-wrapped in tender spring lettuce, early peas and beans, and get-em-before-they’re-gone asparagus (we’ll come back to them) …all glowing like neon lights, and the perfect …
Wasn’t That a Party?
Well, the big event did NOT disappoint! Nor did the weather. The opening salvo to the Lansdowne Farmers Market was the perfect day to mix and mingle with people we haven’t seen for 6 months, or saw just yesterday. It really is one of my favorite days of the year. And this was just the beginning! We’ve got ‘til Halloween …
The Party Starts Right Here
As I type this, the calendar is telling me we’re closing in on Memorial Day…but the chilly damp weather is trying to convince me it’s still March. I’ll have none of it! Cue the sunshine! Dig out those sunglasses and straw hats! Because HERE COMES SUMMER! Welcome back to our town’s summer capitol (or is it capital?): the Lansdowne Farmers …
Where Everybody Knows Your Name
When our two youngest children left for college three years ago, my husband and I started talking about downsizing. Well, I did most of the talking. We were living in a cookie cutter house in Aston, a beautiful home, perfect size for our family. While my husband listened to my reasons for wanting to move, he was perfectly happy where …
Abbondanza!
We thought it would never happen but, just a little behind schedule, the Lansdowne trees put on one of the best shows we’ve seen in quite some time. And sunsets! Glorious sunsets! It’s almost enough to be grateful for the buckets of rain that brought us those colors and clouds. An abundance of beauty. Abundance. Harvest. Gathering. …
From First to Last
First a word: Lansdowne, a pretty little town, all kinds of people there that’ll show you around… In case you missed last week’s market, those words were written and sung by musician Lisa Jeanette, who met and married her love right here in the Village. Give it a listen here…Lansdowne. I think that rates an extra plug, don’t you? Thank …
Time Passages
There’s no stopping the clock, or the calendar. Just when we thought the weather was stuck on August, it’s actually half past October, and the chill is finally in the air. Which means that we’re just about at the end of another season of the Lansdowne Farmers Market. But we’re not leaving quite yet…not while there’s still some Fresh …
Seasonings…
At this point, I’ve given up counting on the calendar as my shopping guide…the continued mild weather is still pumping out a last hurrah of corn, peaches and melons. Tomatoes too, although not necessarily field-ripened, are still great for slicing onto a hearty sammy or burger, or baked into a pizza. Speaking of which…our tomato sensei, Mitch of Green Zebra, …
