May teases, but June pleases!

What is so rare as a day in June?  Or as bursting with expectation?  Graduations, vacations, family time….   And food!…and not just food, but fresh, locally grown right here in the Delaware Valley food

For those who can’t get their fill of healthy produce, we’ve got you covered.  We’ve come to rely on Fruitwood Farms for high quality and fresh-from-New-Jersey-flavor…whatever’s in season.  But you’ll also want to check out our newest produce vendor:  Tucquan Acres. Straight out of Holtwood PA, (that’s Pennsylvania Dutch territory), complete with two of the cutest countermen ever!   They’ll be bringing us the freshest fruits and veggies of the season.  Tomatoes already!  And more to come.

Color June red and green.   Beets and berries!  Tender lettuces and crisp beans that go crunch. Sweet cherries perfect for just sitting in the grass and eating out of hand.  Strawberries that, depending on your self-control, might make it home for tonight’s dessert. Tender peas that thrive in June’s warm days and cool nights.       Don’t wait.  Because they won’t.   But man does not live on produce alone…so keep reading.

Nothing is constant except …change.  And that includes how we feel about, how we prepare, and our relationship to FOOD.   What kinda foodie are you?…Whether personal preference or prescribed program, everyone needs to eat, right?  That never changes.  But what we eat, how it’s grown, or prepared or enjoyed has in the last two decades changed the conversation and the contents of our cupboards.

Here at the LFM we strive to keep up with changing times and eating habits, and to do it de-LIC-iously…

So, as you look at the vendor schedule, (you DO look at it, right?) you’ll begin to notice some new names, with new spins on what’s cookin’ in terms of both inner and outer health.

Pasta?…yes, please!  But now you can have it gluten free, thanks to PlantStation Pasta.  Or just the pick-me-up you need from Bella Mae’s Tea Company.  Loose tea and love.  Perfect together.

And it isn’t just your stomachs that need some healthy TLC. Take care of that skin…it’s the only one you’ve got, and you can likely find your skincare soulmate at one of our tents…PLAR Essence and Forever Young Vegan Skin Care are standing by for your call.

In the Artist’s Tent: Deanna Haldeman’s  Deramics Clay Studio.  Fathers’ Day is just ahead…so maybe a manly mug for his beverage of choice.  Or a new grown-up gift for the college grad.

Community Day:  Want to set up at our market? It’s never too soon to start planning how you can show-off your entrepreneurial side by promoting your business; or find someone who shares or would like to explore your special hobby.   Go to the Community Day sign up page  to find out how and when.

Now for some housekeeping:  If you visited the Market last week, you’ll have noticed a flip-flop in our vendor set-up as well as with the entrance and exit protocols.  During the coming year, our space will be undergoing some upgrades and we’re working to develop the best and safest traffic pattern for market days to get us where we need to go.  We know…change is hard…but for safety’s sake, we ask for your patience and cooperation.   So for the time being…

Entrance only from Lansdowne Avenue.  Parking will be on the right side of the lot, all the way to Owen.  Exit only onto Owen Ave.

Be sure to read all of the LEDC’s new and improved newsletter, The Lansdowne Link, for even more of what’s going down on the Avenue and around the town.  Celebrations, parades, and community events are what makes a small town feel HUGE!

See you there!
